- **1★ · Portsmouth Herald appears disconnected from its constituency. · March 4, 2022** — • Yesterday, Wednesday, March 3rd there was a fire in the Hanover Street parking garage. Expected a full lead story of the damage, cause and future impact…nothing. • SeaCoast Online repeats stories and editorials for days on end. In some cases they will run the same story for almost a week. For me, it is incredibly hard to clearly identify the new stories. • If you want to report a story, it is virtually impossible to reach anyone. SeaCoast Online does not provide a telephone number or e-mail address that I can find. Maybe the print edition I don’t get provides this information. • If you need help, the e-mail address is a black hole. Calling the provided helpline gets you a person in Afghanistan, Pakistan ro India where the King’s English is their second language. They are totally useless. • Actually went to their facility at Pease which is only a printing facility. They laughed when I asked for a office telephone number, volunteered no would answer. Newspapers are key to a democracy and are threatened by numerous internal and external factors. Wish I knew how to help…
- **1★ · Expensive, no real news · January 6, 2026** — As a decades long subscriber, we recently canceled. USA Today has gutted this paper, with only a couple of actual reporters on the ground. There is typically only 2 pages of actual local news, 1/2 of that is drafted from press releases or other sources. The rest is USA Today filler. And, it’s is 3x as expensive as a much better, non-profit owned statewide paper in Maine. Sad to see what has happened to the state of local news in NH, but in the Seacoast in particular.
