very frustrated with the free tier. on vacation and trying to download the maps of my area. I ran into a limit of downloads. upon realizing there was a limit, I decided to delete all the ones i had downloaded and instead just download the essential ones. Nope, I now have zero downloads and cannot download any unless I upgrade. its not at all obvious what the limitations are. im not going to buy premium when I havent even used navigation a single time.

It used to be a 3.5/4 but a recent update hid Android Auto behind a paywall, making the app almost useless for my use case. It's a serviceable Google Maps replacement, but can be a little clunky. The UI is fine, there's a LOT of information you can get but also hide, the search is alright (I found some missing businesses and buildings that have been there for years, but that's not OsmAnd's fault). Not having Google's business info hits very hard as sometimes a business is just "restaurant".

I really like the simplicity of this app. the interface is clean. You download the map of your area and it is saved locally. If you lose cell service you still can navigate. Would have been very helpful for me when I was lost in Tennessee and there is no cell service. Google maps dropped out and left me stranded. It is super customizable. It also has hiking, trails, and nautical. Lacks real-time traffic. it's going to be my backup for Waze.
