Justin Guitar Lessons & Songs

I love the new update! It’s even easier to find all the lessons you need, it even puts together more on strumming that I missed on the website! My strumming is messy and this update helped me find a video to showed me how to better hold my pick and strike the strings better! I had been hitting it too flat. I’ve even had in person lessons that I paid hundreds for and not one instructor helped me with that! I’ve been learning for years, I’ve been a paying member of this app for years and felt I had hit a wall and had put down my guitar for a while. I was stuck but this update has me up and playing again and I feel the progress! The lessons are put together nicely. I even add theory and ear training with mine. I started all over from module 1 and found so much I missed so if you have been using the website, I highly recommend this app and start from the beginning to make sure you haven’t missed anything! Justin’s lessons are top bar! I have found that just because someone knows how to play, doesn’t mean they can teach. I’ve paid for in person and I’ve tried numerous online lessons and have always felt let down. I’ve loved Justin’s lessons since early on but the work he has put into this update soars above all the rest! Justin is the best teacher I have ever had. If you want to play guitar then get this app! Okay, Justin is great and has helped me tremendously but I wish he spent more time working with strumming patterns. TBH learning guitar is really hard and persistence is the only way through. I spend every day practicing chord changes but doing it and strumming is a real challenge. It would help a lot if he had a whole chapter on just learning one full song. Understanding the mechanics and the strumming that goes into just one song is kinda crazy. And really hard to get for a beginner. The songs go through strumming on one or all four but don’t really put it together in a way that is musical. I am new to all of this and am really not complaining because the app has endless tools and tutorials but is missing that one element. Maybe choose a fun song everyone should learn from each chapter and piece by piece go through it the way it was intended. Easy songs are not easy for someone just starting out. It is very difficult to keep pushing forward without real success even if it is a simple nursery rhyme that is fun to play. I have complemented this with some other online videos which has helped put some of the puzzle pieces together. All in all the app is great and even better if you pair it with his online content, I wish it was all in one place and the videos were paired with the song tutorials in some way. The chord changes in one minute just don’t work so I use it as a timer and not a counter

Waited a while using this app for doing a review. Even though it asked frequently, I wanted to be sure I really liked it and was learning. First off the lessons online are great. I previously had lessons with numerous teachers in real life but I just couldn’t get a handle on practicing consistently. The app helps you with this because the practice routines are set up for you and straightforward went to practice. I actually do the exercises instead of just skipping to songs. Another thing I really enjoy about this app is that it has a reasonably large bank of songs you can pick from, so I don’t have to play something that’s just a favorite of the guitar teacher, or conversely something that is a favorite of mine but is too hard for me at the level I’m at. I find myself spending 20 to 30 minutes practicing on the days when I really don’t feel like playing at all, and maybe an hour or more on the days when I get into it. Which are happening more and more often. One thing that really tripped me up in the past was that I would have to gather a bunch of stuff to practice which gave me an excuse not to. I would need my guitar and my amp and my tuner and my stack of papers and my phone and songs and an app to slow down the songs etc. etc. and then I’d have to go to a lesson. So far this is working great and I’m very appreciative of the work Justin and his team have done. I got this as a recommendation from a friend of mine who used it years ago and is now playing in bands. I am hoping that the app continues to grow and cover more and more levels of lessons
