Could be improved

August, 2026 Google Earth team- I installed the most recent update, hoping that some of the problems I was having were fixed. Nope. In addition to the choices of what I want displayed, the darn thing doesn’t have satellite view as the default. Why‽ I hate having to click to switch to satellite *and* custom view every single time I use it. If I wanted a sketch like map I’d use Apple Maps. Google Earth has wandered further away from what makes it useful. July, 2026 I use this app a lot and love that I can save searches, measurements, etc. I've been using map apps as I read because they make everything more memorable and real. I’ve run into a problem recently that I should have predicted and prevented. I have too many maps. I’ve figured out that I need to include better descriptions of who and what make a particular item important, but I’ve reached the point where files should be merged. Let’s say I have a map about interesting borders and another about revanchist claims. The two are obviously interconnected, so I want to merge the maps. Sure, I could combine them manually, but it takes a long time to redraw the borders. It looks like I can copy a feature from one file and paste it into another, but that doesn't seem to do anything. Weird, right? Right now, I guess I’ll use a subset of the maps I’ve put a lot of time into and hope I’ll be able to merge the files sooner or later.

Why so many negative reviews?

Scrolling through reviews for this app kind of suprised me a bit and i actually expected my own experience on the app to be worse but i was pleasantly suprised. A few reviews i seen talked about the app crashing and how its not user friendly, but after spending hours straight messing with the app and exploring different locations, it never crashed once. and i actually thought it was extremely easy to navigate around the app, If anyone had a problem with that they either need a new device or need to learn how to use electronics. The street view option is also fun, I love you can just tap the screen where you wanna go and it puts you there. Another feature i saw someone complain about was the fact it teaches you about the location you are looking at and gives you a small description which is perfect for absolutely anyone that wants to learn more, so i don’t understand what the problem with that was. I also saw a review mention how they want a day and night feature to see different places but you have to remember that actual people are driving or walking through these places and most locations like tourist attractions won’t allow anyone there past a certain time, not even google themselves. I also didn’t even get a single ad my entire time on the app and i was most definitely using wifi. In conclusion this is a very well designed app that i had absolutely no problem with and i could easily recommend this to anyone that wants to explore and even learna thing or two.

New York Map Needs an Update!!!!

The Google Earth map needs to be updated! I enjoy using Google Earth as it offers a fantastic feature to explore the world and discover different places. However, I have noticed that the map of the New York metro area needs an update. New York City and its surrounding areas have been experiencing a significant construction and development boom. Areas like as Downtown Brooklyn, Long Island City, Jersey City, Newark, Yonkers, White Plains, and New Rochelle are undergoing major changes, with many smaller cities now having skylines comparable to major cities across the country. Many of the new buildings that have completed constructed for over a year or more still aren’t on the map or shows it’s still in the beginning phase. Despite the map being 1-2 years old, it already appears outdated. To provide users with a more accurate and current view, I believe Google Maps should update the entire NYC to reflect its current appearance. Additionally, a map update every 5-10 months would be reasonable to keep pace with the ongoing developments.
