IXL - Math, English, & More

As a student I think ixl is not very fun only because when you get a question wrong it sets you back more points than when you get one right. It’s still a good learning app exept for when it makes me cry out of flustration because of how it’s set up. Most teachers assign and encourage children to use this app because of the education that it offers. Yes it does offer good help and practice but is still quite annoying when I get one wrong and it sets me back even more points. I have heard from so many other kids that they dislike ixl because of the way it’s set up. This can often effect how long your child spends on the app trying to get a perfect score. They can stay up hours just trying to get that score, and in my opinion I think that ixl needs to be changed in a way that children are not staying up so late trying to get a good score and instead only spending so much time on the app. If ixl could make it so that when you get a problem wrong it demotes you the same amount of points as it would when you get one right. I think this would help so many children and parents not stay up late and still be able to practice. I don’t know if this function was on purpose and the ixl company had a reason for this, but almost every person I ask gives me an explanation on why they dislike ixl. ,sincerely an IXL user

I love how you give a variety of activities of learning to do. My math tutor suggested this app for me I didn't think it was gonna be so fun but now here I am so fun I give it a five star because it doesn’t annoy me like loading up and it’s actually help your brain so this is really good. I don’t know what he is up to, but it’s like amazing for all ages and I think a genius made this game up. It’s such a fun game, but it’s more of a learning app which is amazing because no learning apps are fun, never thought I’d be writing this letter like that’s learning I don’t really like math, but it’s really fun and I hope that a lot of people give it a five star and if they don’t don’t feel bad about it is so funny but in life, I don’t know what you use math for, but it’s totally amazing but I’m glad you don’t had any cartoon characters like that distracting but if you have like gold and silver and bronze, it be so cool and if you made like special events, it’s so fun. I hope you get to read this note. I am taking a long time to write this and yeah, but this is so so so so so fun, I really like reading. I don’t know if you guys have a writing thing for this but it be great if you add one or if you have one and you can write me know if you have one. really I really like the one that I just said I think it was like which one would be the best option and I really like those things since I go to like a private school I just did the E R Bs which is like the state test I’d say it wasn’t that fun but it’s kind of like this app. This app is fun though. I’m so glad my tutor introduces me to this cause it’s so so so fun sorry this is so long. I am definitely a writer. I will get to read this.

IXL teaches kids that it’s not okay to make mistakes, despite what their description on the app store claims. For example, you have to reach 100% to complete an IXL lesson. Let’s say you’re at 99%, and you get the last question wrong. You’ll get sent back to something like 82%, and you’ll have to get back to 99%, getting only 2% per question, which is very difficult, especially when you’re learning a new topic. If that happens, the kid thinks, “I have to get to 100% to finish my homework, so I can’t make any more mistakes!” When really the whole point of math is to make mistakes so you can grow and keep learning! IXL can also be very frustrating because of the scoring system. If you accidentally misclick on a question and it sends you back like 20 points, it just makes you want to quit. IXL also doesn’t teach you about the topic you’re taking a lesson on; however, IXL “explains” to you what you did wrong when you get a question incorrect, but the explanations often aren’t very helpful and sometimes just make me more confused. Sometimes, IXL glitches, and the question shown on the screen isn’t matched up with the answer for that question, and instead of the “answer” of that question being the ACTUAL answer, it will just be a random answer from a different question. It is very frustrating when this happens, because you have to reload the app, and it often restarts your lesson. I have told my teacher this before, and unfortunately she has informed me there is nothing I can do about it.
