I like LinkedIn because it allows me to connect with wonderful people I have had a very very good experience with LinkedIn and interestingly though I never asked for a review because I never really cared because I never really thought I was gonna be jobless and only one person ever gave me a review and his name was Patrick O’Malley and he said something very very special but he made a mistake in the review or something and I was really confused by it but inn because it introduced me to Patrick O’Malley and now I’m gonna be speaking to Patrick O’Malley directly because he was very very Saint Patrick O’Malley perhaps I don’t know Saint Patrick O’Malley was very present in his utterances anyway that’s why I like LinkedIn anyway live on TikTok which TikTok TikTok tick-tock you know I was thinking about TikTok man you know I’m here and you know you’re kind of like a little bit late you know a few minutes later or whatever you know we have like broadcast delay delays you know going live going live at the world stage is very very important it’s a very competitive event and you know we do that we practice you know different ways so I’m gonna turn on the heat a little bit OK actually I was even talking here I was just kinda like doing a LinkedIn review oops oh well hey anyway LinkedIn is great so have fun LinkedIn I’m still looking for a job so please pick me up because I’m too lazy to get a job as you know LinkedIn very well but anyway I’m trying to get a job in rectangular maintenance or something like as a theoretician in like rectangular space and I need to make that space more three-dimensional kind of like if I want to do that it’s it’s all information Terry OK thank you

I’ve been able to find some pretty good opportunities with this app, hence why I’m still keeping it. However, I will say that LinkedIn seems to be much less of a job searching app and more or less just another social media platform. It’s not even really even as professional as it claims to be since my feed is now just littered with a bunch of inane shorts, AI Slop, and bigots who feel way to comfortable advertising in my feed (seriously, LinkedIn needs to review what counts as an ad because I literally just saw one reposting someone else’s news article and praising ICE….bigotry aside, how the hell does that help me find a job?). Genuinely, LinkedIn would be so much better if the feed was more opportunity focused instead of filled with random people and stories I don’t know. If a company isn’t giving out any tips, news, or opportunities, it doesn’t need to be in the feed! The job search page is also poorly tailored, so whenever I do find opportunities, it’s because of the feed instead of the tool that’s actually designed for me to find opportunities. Networking should be another page (or app) entirely because clearly, it doesn’t happen here. It’s just AI-Slop and bigots who feel way too comfortable harassing certain people…maybe do something more on that by the way because I’ve seen many users report racist encounters and the moderation didn’t do anything.

I'll say this first: LinkedIn is the first social media on which I had any type of success. My content, in-depth and thought-provoking, was often penalized by algorithms on other platforms. That said, I think LinkedIn understands that they are the dominant service of the business-networking world, so there is really no reason to change the platform. However, this undermines the user base in two major ways: first, users effectively have to learn and adapt to the algorithm, which has certain quirks that influence general platform engagement. For instance, my feed has posts from minutes ago as well as from weeks ago. Second, it is challenging to edit and draft within LinkedIn itself, and I often find myself relying on other mediums to do so. Polishing the LinkedIn editor, and adding flavor (italics, bold, underlining) to text within the UI would go a long way. That said, I have received more thoughtful, engaging, and insightful content from LinkedIn than on any other platform I've used (save Substack, with which it may be on par). So while the algorithm does a good job selecting relevant content, its timeline and preferences (for instance, the odd rule of thumb that authors ought to comment on their own posts) are somewhat confusing. Still, using LinkedIn has been, overall, a very positive experience.
