EDIT: As I was. As the response below describes, there are indeed two (2) apps available, and for those who had previously bought the app outright it can be reinstalled without ads or the need for repurchase/subscription. However, following the instructions below I discovered that both versions appear to be titled “Weather +” and developed by Impala; it took a little sleuthing to figure out the non-subscription version I’d purchased is the smaller one. Why they have apparently identical names is unclear; certainly it was a contributing factor to my earlier conclusion and the associated review, both of which might have been avoided by just giving the subscription app a different name. I considered giving four and a half stars for the excess confusion, but that’s not an available option (...is it..?), and the developer’s response has solved the problem. And it is, still, a simple and beautiful app. Please accept my thanks for your attention to this matter. Original Review: I loved this app when I first saw it years ago - beautiful pictures, clean interface. So I paid - PAID - for the premium app. A month ago I had to reset my iPad and reinstall my applications, and have since discovered that I cannot restore my purchase; now, apparently, I can only “subscribe” if I want to get rid of the ads I thought I’d already paid to remove. 5 stars for a beautiful app, minus 4 for jamming a heretofore satisfied customer with a genuinely lame maneuver. What a shame.

Just as wrong as Apple weather. If you look outside and it has been moderately to heavy overcast all day. Overcast enough that you need to turn on lights in the house. WOULD YOU THEN REASONABLY CALL THIS CLEAR SKIES? Nowhere is there a place I could find in this app to report local conditions. That local reporting is what made Dark Sky so accurate. We the users made it top notch. Love the wonderful graphics here and for the most part smooth and easy to read. Wind chill is right up there with the current temperature where it belongs, not on the bottom of page as an afterthought. As I now can take time to play with this without the miserable flashing ads, I find I am enjoying the soothing zen type quality's the imagery provides. It’s really not so far away from the sleekness and ease of use we all loved with Dark Sky. OK IMPALA, let us report our local conditions and you may well becoming the next Dark Sky. The next move is up to you.

Have a number of towns that do business with, anytime do anything, adjust brightness on iPad, change volume on music playing in background, go to another app, or really just anything, it goes back to some town at the beginning of the lineup, generally one didn’t even put in there. How about it just stays on the town one puts it on until move elsewhere? It used to do that, and now there are some pretty obnoxious ads with sound that are devilish to get out of. Don’t mind ads, just would like them to be less obnoxious and not mess so much with app functionality, and easier to turn off when they might not be relevant. Also when have to be offline given cell reception in the countryside it would be nice if it didn’t try to go online checking for hurricanes and such then erase all downloaded weather info leaving just the names of the towns, the time and date, yet no weather. Every time one does anything it reverts to the town or towns that somehow got put on and set at the beginning, then one has to sideswipe over to the original town, in this case about seven or eight swipes over. There’s other little issues that we hope you’re looking into already.
